MEDICA 2018 EXHIBITOR PROFILES Single use surgical instruments
Surgical Use Surgical, a Cardiff-based surgical instrument specialist that offers ‘gold standard’ disposable systems, is exhibiting at Medica to raise awareness of its Pulse Lavage kit and Spackman Cannula. The disposable surgical instrument specialist focuses on identifying difficult-to- clean surgical equipment and offers alternative single use systems. The Pulse Lavage kit features a built-in
battery pack, which can be disconnected for safe disposal. The device includes a controlled pulsed irrigation and suction feature and comes with two additional tips designed specifically for the hip and knee, suitable for applications such as orthopaedic revisions, total joint procedures, trauma and wound care.
Single use surgical systems for gynaecology and fertility include the Spackman Cannula. Featuring a self-locking clamp, it is designed to enable convenient single-handed use, while ensuring a seal on the cervix, due to the functionality of the moving acorn. Export manager, Michael Denver, said:
“We are always looking to expand our partner database and are keen to speak to interested partners at Medica 2018. We are fully committed to delivering high quality products, reliability and consist customer service with dedicated product support that global partners, both new and old, require to serve and nurture their markets.” Hall 16/F42
Its design ensures i- view is easy to use, and the integral LCD screen
provides an optimal view in a variety of light conditions. By combining all the advantages of a fully integrated video laryngoscope in a single use, disposable
product, i-view is said to provide a cost-effective solution – and is ready to use seconds after removing from the packaging.
As well as the i-view system, Intersurgical will be exhibiting its full range of respiratory care products. Hall 11/A59
the SLE6000 which now includes high frequency oscillation ventilation with VTV, DuoPAP, integrated SpO2
and etCO2
monitoring, and multiple new languages which add to its all-round versatility. The streamlined ‘Lunar’ interface and integration of new modes and features on the SLE6000 have been developed to allow it to become a focal point for patient wellbeing during ventilation - giving medical staff more time to spend caring for the baby rather than operating the ventilator. Rapid testing for Leptospira
Linnodee Diagnostics, established in 1999 and based in Northern Ireland, promotes animal and human health worldwide through the development of rapid, accurate and cost-effective diagnostic tests and services. Although the company has its roots in the
veterinary sector, it also plays a crucial role globally with Leptorapide – a rapid, agglutination test which detects the re-emerging disease Leptospirosis in humans. It is recognised among other commercial tests for its early detection of Leptospira infection. Leptorapide is a simple, highly sensitive and specific, one-step test with no requirement for laboratory equipment, that rapidly detects the presence of Leptospira specific antibodies in human sera in less than three minutes. Video laryngoscopy wherever you intubate
i-view is a new single use, fully disposable video laryngoscope from Intersurgical, providing the option of video laryngoscopy in the ER, ICU, maternity or the pre-hospital environment.
By incorporating a Macintosh blade, i-view can also be used for direct laryngoscopy and, according to Intersurgical, the technique for insertion is more familiar and instinctive than for devices with a hyper-angulated blade.
NOVEMBER 2018
At Medica 2018 SLE will be introducing OxyGenie, a technology designed to reduce infant mortality - on its most powerful ventilator, the SLE6000. OxyGenie is a ‘closed-loop’ control system for optimising oxygen levels in infants, using a sophisticated algorithm to predict the blood level of Oxygen before making several tiny variations in FiO2
in a pre-defined range.
The launch of OxyGenie comes alongside the release of the Version 2 software on

Physiolab has launched a portable unit, adding the S1 to its award-winning portfolio of human performance products. The portable unit is designed to deliver clinically effective compression alongside cryotherapy (cooling).
Like the C1 clinical unit, the S1 provides an intuitive clinical toolkit to support physiotherapists and clinicians. This includes maximising body performance, improving injury rates, accelerating soft tissue repair following injury or trauma and reducing pain. By using cooling, and compression combined or separately, Physiolab is said to deliver a precise, targeted, repeatable and clinically effective treatment which maximises the body’s ability to recover.
