Young says High Roller has an applied AI team developing concepts for its emerging B2C offering, although he is not yet ready to disclose the products it is working on. “I have seen, played with and tested some of the coolest stuff I’ve ever seen,” he says. “It’s not all in the space, and I do think that’s an area where we will over-index.” “We need to get live and get to market. We do have a lot of fast-follow features that we’re working on. It’s a very exciting time for us on the product side.”
LOOKING BEYOND SPORTS
Sport has been the most visible battleground as gaming operators move into prediction markets, but Young does not want High Roller simply following larger competitors into an acquisition fight centred entirely on sports customers. “Tere’s a lot of product out there now, and a lot of it is pretty much the same,” he says. “Te time that we’re in now kind of reminds me of 2018 when sports betting was introduced in the US. Nobody’s product is great. Tere are some good ones and they’re getting better fast, but there’s nothing that’s great.”
Young expects ROLR to participate in sports, but High Roller is also looking at the much wider range of event contracts that prediction
‘CAREFULLY’
One question hanging over every US prediction market business is regulation. Te expansion of federally regulated event contracts has generated continuing debate over their relationship with state- regulated gambling, particularly sports betting. Asked how High Roller factors that uncertainty into its investment, Young’s immediate answer is simple: “Carefully.” He accepts there are credible arguments around the regulatory direction of the market and does not claim to know how those questions will ultimately be resolved.
“I can’t tell you what’s going to happen,” he says. “You can ask me the question today and a week from now I might have a different answer. You can make reasonable arguments on both sides. Regardless of where it goes, I think we are building and preparing for it the right way, with our eyes wide open, having seen this movie before a few times in the United States.”
Te potential scale of the category nevertheless explains why High Roller is prepared to invest in it. Young has worked through several stages of the development of online gambling, from poker and DFS to

markets make possible. “We are not going to compete today with billions of dollars in ad spend focused towards sports,” he says. “It doesn’t mean we’re ignoring it. Some of our early deals are definitely focused towards that. But it does mean that we’re considering different ways to approach the market in the medium and long term.”
Unlike High Roller’s established casino business, which operates outside the US, ROLR is starting without an existing domestic casino customer base to migrate. “Te breadth of markets is really interesting,” Young says. “You can engage with anything that’s event-based, more or less, and so it creates a really interesting, different set of consumer cohorts.”
