I’m not looking forward to the same coleslaw that’s always served at summer BBQs! What can I bring that’s different?
One easy way to switch things up is to bring a mayo-free side. Go the Mediterranean route and use olive or avocado oil in your dressing, incorporating citrus like lemon juice and zest, and using herbs such as cilantro, oregano and mint for a burst of fresh flavor. Add beans for protein, like cannellini, lupini, or chickpeas. Or play with new veggies in your slaw mix such as carrots, radish- es, and jicama. Red cabbage adds a splash of color as well as a dose of antioxidants.
