VACUUM WITH EASE AND EFFICIENCY
Vacuuming is a core task in floorcare regimes, and an apparently mundane one. But can it be performed more easily and efficiently? Gordon McVean, International Sales and Marketing Director of Truvox International, provides an update on recent technical advances.
Caring and maintaining floors properly requires a series of tasks performed routinely and periodically – with the life of the flooring asset in mind, as well as its daily appearance. And, to be cost-effective, each cleaning activity needs to be executed with ease and efficiency.
The regular, usually daily, vacuum may seem the most mundane of cleaning routines. As with other cleaning equipment, vacuums have seen some useful design refinements in recent years. But it was only this spring that cordless technology was harnessed for the first time by that mainstay of vacuuming, the upright.
The award-winning Valet Battery Upright (VBU) is a light yet powerful vacuum, designed for maximum productivity. Its aim is to make vacuuming easier and more efficient than ever by cutting the cord. Powered by a lithium ion battery, the VBU can free cleaning teams from the hassle and risks tied to electric cables so they can vacuum more quietly and seamlessly across all floor types throughout a building.
Routine vacuuming is essential to lift the grit from carpet pile that otherwise accelerates wear, as well as detracting from the carpet’s appearance. Equally, grit on hard floors damages protective coatings and can leave irreparable marks. Thorough vacuuming is also essential before and after deep cleaning carpets through encapsulation, and during cleaning of hard floors when using rotary machines.
The VBU vacuum floats evenly over all flooring surfaces thanks to a self-adjusting nozzle, while a squeegee improves cleaning results on hard floors. Performance and productivity also benefit from an edge cleaning feature and full suction when the VBU is laid flat to clean under beds and furniture. A single charge is sufficient for more than 60 minutes’ continuous runtime, while a full recharge takes only 2.5 hours.
By eliminating stop-start vacuuming, the cleaning team can enjoy a productivity and efficiency boost, with the battery delivering 312W of vacuum motor power and a brush speed of 3,000rpm. The VBU is also ideal for daytime cleaning, making it easier to work around people and obstacles with minimal disruption. The machine only weighs 5kg, with a convenient carry handle making it easy to transport between cleaning jobs.
Air quality is safeguarded through high filtration provided by a HEPA 13 media bag. Replacing the dust bag is simple: the compartment unzips and the bag is automatically sealed as it’s pulled from the bag holder.
Tub vacuums have their merits too, and are popular with contract cleaners. This traditional workhorse has also benefitted from technical improvements – notably greater energy efficiency combined with high performance.
Truvox’s VTVe meets the new eco regulations with an A rating for energy consumption. It’s also compact, light and highly manoeuvrable. Featuring three-stage HEPA 13 filtration, the VTVe captures all particles of 0.3 microns and above, and weighs just 6kg, with a generous 11.5l capacity.
