Before any new floorcoverings could be installed, contractors first had to level and smooth the rough surface that had been left after the old substrate had been removed. Stopgap Green Bag & 114 Liquid smoothing underlayment was installed at a depth of 3mm to provide a, smooth, even surface for the installation of a suitable waterproof surface membrane.

Taking into consideration the function of the area to be refurbished, and to combat any residual moisture accumulated during the time the park was out of use, contractors then applied Stopgap F77 one-coat waterproof surface membrane to impede the passage of subfloor moisture, preventing it from adversely affecting the installation.

Stopgap F77 is a two-part, accelerated epoxy resin system that cures in as little as three hours to provide an effective barrier to rising damp and residual construction moisture. It can

be used where relative humidity levels are as high as 98%.

Once the waterproof surface membrane had cured, contractors primed the surface with Stopgap P131 General Purpose Primer before installing a further 3mm of Stopgap Green Bag smoothing underlayment, further raising floor levels and providing a smooth surface for the installation of new floorcoverings.

Commenting on the use of F. Ball products at Dreamland, Dean Finch of Hi-Spec Flooring, said: “The products performed excellently as usual. We use F. Ball products a lot, and we always have done.

“We have a great relationship with their sales rep and he is always available to help us find the products we need for a particular job. Having that kind of support makes us more than happy to use their products regularly.”

Regardless of the timescale available to complete an installation, it is vital that the correct steps are taken in order to achieve a high quality finish. However, advances in cement technology mean that installations, even those with more complex requirements, can be completed quickly and efficiently without compromising on quality. Fast-drying, low odour smoothing underlayments, such as those from F. Ball and Co. Ltd., offer both time and money saving benefits and enable an area to resume functioning quicker than ever before.
