Transforming Recognition into Advocacy School music advocacy drives the phi- losophy of WSMA Accreditation and the journey to its conferral and renewal. Accreditation speaks the language of your school’s key decision makers. Although


you work tirelessly to make it so, perhaps not everyone on whom you depend knows how (or takes the time) to identify and sup- port good music education on their own, but most people understand and implicitly trust an industry seal of approval. WSMA Accreditation is such a seal, and schools can embrace it as part of their own school music advocacy efforts.


To help those accredited harness the honor’s power by drawing positive atten- tion to their music programs, schools will receive recognition on the WSMA web- site, portfolio-ready certificates for music teachers and their school administrators, and a special logo [see illustration] that can be placed on music department and other school materials, such as concert programs, websites, and social media platforms. These tools will help broaden the reach of your school music program’s great reputation.


Accreditation is here to uplift and ben- efit all schools – not just schools already predisposed to qualification. For music departments not yet ready to qualify, teachers and other advocates are encour- aged to find support for a path to ac- creditation. You and your school’s key decision makers share a common goal: to distinguish your school by making it the best it can be.
