Conference Highlights
Navy Band Great Lakes Wind Ensemble – Wednesday, October 25, 7 p.m.
The Navy Band Great Lakes Wind Ensemble is comprised of 34 active duty musicians under the direction of Lieuten- ant Geordie Kelly. The ensemble continues the legacy of its famous bandmaster, Lieutenant Commander John Philip Sousa, performing military music throughout the Midwest. Repertoire consists of classic concert band literature, patriotic music, marches and vocal selections. Free to the public, this family-friendly concert kicks off the 2017 Wisconsin State Music Conference.
Special Networking Sessions
Share ideas, issues, concerns and innovative solutions with your colleagues in the special networking sessions for NAfME Collegiate, general music, orchestra, band and choir. Agendas will be open-ended. Simply come to the networking sessions with your discussion topics. Group facilitators will lead discus- sion so all topics of interest and importance can be addressed.
Aspiring Music Majors Program – Friday, October 27
Support the future of music education by inviting your juniors and seniors who are interested in music at the post-secondary level to the Wisconsin State Music Conference. These students can visit college and university representatives, take in special confer-

This year’s President’s Wel- come includes a greeting by WMEA President Lynn Seidl and special keynote address by Wisconsin’s representa- tive and finalist for National Teacher of the Year, Chris Gleason. It’s also a chance to meet members of the WMEA Board and Council and recognize colleagues during the presentation of WMEA awards. One lucky attendee will be selected from a ran- dom drawing to receive a free 2018 conference registration! Must be present to win.
