2017 WMEA Wisconsin Music Standards
The 2017 WMEA Wisconsin Music Standards are now open to the public at
wmeamusic.org/standards. While on the website, please take a moment and watch the videos that explain how to read the standards. They are very helpful with making sense of the information. Implementation examples are also included on the website and will be expanded upon. Thank you to members of the WMEA Standards Committee for all their time and efforts in developing the standards. The standards committee includes
Paul Budde, Christine Hayes, Kate Mitchell, Leyla Sanyer, Tim Schaid, Aimee Swanson and Rich Tengowski. See page 22 for a special article on the 2017 WMEA Wisconsin Music Standards.
Comprehensive Musicianship Through Performance (CMP) Project
Wisconsin celebrates 40 years of the CMP Project this year. On July 11, a gala was held at Concordia University in Mequon on the beautiful shore of Lake Michigan. Current workshop partici- pants and committee members as well as past participants and former committee members were all in attendance. A history of CMP was told by members of the first CMP committee which was founded by Mike George, Will Schmid and Dick Gaarder in 1977. Jeanne Julseth and Jan Tweed were also on the first com- mittee and in attendance at the gala. Music, stories and laughs were shared. See page 44 for an expanded article on the CMP 40th
anniversary gala. The next CMP Summer Workshop will take place at UW-River Falls June 25-29, 2018.
