WMEA Summer Retreat

The WMEA Executive Board and Committee met on July 18 and were joined by the WMEA Council and Wisconsin NAfME Collegiate Steering Committee members on July 19 for a summer retreat. The WMEA Council and staff at the Wisconsin Center for Music Education gave reports and the collegiate members met with their advisor, Abi Pulvermacher, to organize and make plans for the upcoming school year. Time was also spent on the WMEA strategic plan. Please welcome new WMEA Executive Board & Council members Christine Hulmer, Northwest vice president; Amelia Armstrong, Southwest vice president; Anthony Cao, secondary general music chair; Corynn Nordstrom, early childhood chair; Miriam Altman, CMP chair and Laura Dun- bar, PI-34/mentoring chair. The retreat was well attended and council members showed forward-thinking and a great amount of enthusiasm.

WMEA Capitol Concerts

In March and April 2017, 12 concerts were performed during the noon hour in Wisconsin’s State Capitol Rotunda in celebra- tion of Music In Our Schools Month. If you are interested in performing in 2018, information, available concert dates, and a printable application will become available on the WMEA website on October 1 and will be due by December 1. An event like this absolutely cannot happen without volunteers. A special thanks to the following field representatives for donating their time to help host and emcee this past year: Mike George, Wayne Crook, Glenn Klotz, Bob Gentile, Tom Heninger and Linda Meier.
