Combined Seating and Storage for Optimised Changing Room Space
Hygienic furniture specialist Teknomek has launched compact step over seating benches intended to make the most of the space available in smaller changing rooms. The S-clad design builds in shoe compartments on both the unit for the ‘clean’ and ‘dirty’ sides of the room. This ensures further valuable space does not have to be expended on shoe storage for external and internal footwear.
Sue Springett, Commercial Manager at Teknomek, said: “Space is often at a premium in changing rooms, as choke points these represent a risk area when it comes to maintaining social distancing. As such, it’s in the best interests of businesses to make the most of the floor space available by reducing down the amount of furniture in the room as far as possible.
“The intelligent design of the S-clad seating benches helps solve this problem by integrating shoe storage and seating into a single item of furniture.”
The new benches are available in widths from 1000mm with a dedicated shelf for the clean and dirty sides. Customers can opt for 304-grade fully welded stainless steel as standard or choose 316-grade for additional corrosion resistance in line with their standard clean down procedures. Easy clean features include 50mm floor clearance for ease of access beneath the unit.

New Platform for Next-Generation HPC Testing Announced
Idexx, the global leader in rapid microbiological testing for water, has launched EasyDisc™, a new testing platform for the detection of heterotrophic plate counts (HPC) in water.
EasyDisc offers an easy solution for HPC testing, with no agar preparation needed, and requiring less than one minute of hands-on time to process a sample. Blue colonies reduce ambiguity of results, and colony counting is made easier by the integrated gridlines in the EasyDisc plate. With a 12-month shelf life, EasyDisc reduces the need for repetitive quality control checks and ensures that tests are ready when needed.
EasyDisc is available in three different formulations to cover all HPC testing needs: PCA and YEA, which correlate with the pour plate method using plate count agar and yeast extract agar respectively for the testing of drinking and source water; and R2A that correlates with the pour plate method using Reasoner’s 2 agar for the testing of medical and/or pharmaceutical waters.
EasyDisc is the latest innovative water testing method from Idexx, which also offers liquid culture methods for the enumeration of E. coli and coliform bacteria, as well as detection methods for enterococci, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Legionella pneumophila.

Upgrade your IC System and Achieve Fast and Consistent IC Results
High uptimes, low operating costs, accurate results - this is what you get with Metrohm ion chromatography (IC) systems. From routine ion chromatography analysis to research and development, from stand-alone analysers to fully automated systems, Metrohm will deliver the right IC solution for your requirements. 3-year instrument warranty and 10-year warranty on their anion suppressor say it all about the robust Swiss quality of their high-pressure ion chromatographs.
SimplyConcentrate is the latest innovation from Metrohm’s UK & Ireland IC team. SimplyConcentrate uses patented dosino technology and affordable, certified eluent concentrates from Merck to generate a stream of eluent just in time with no waste.
When you upgrade to SimplyConcentrate you can enjoy stable retention times, consistent peak integration and fast ion chromatography.
Eluent is generated automatically, in situ, meaning you consume what you really need and not a drop more. Start-up, fast equilibration, batch run and system shut down is automated to allow for fast system equilibration. The column and the high pressure pump are cleaned and stored in water, in situ, extending their lifetimes.
SimplyConcentrate can be fitted to any 930 Compact IC flex. Metrohm particularly recommends the 930 Compact IC Flex combined with the 889 Sample Centre that occupies a footprint of only 30cm width when configured as a single tower. Fast injection times and low sample volumes are realised with the 889 Sample Centre and sample cooling is available as an option.
