Chromatography 11 Enhanced Degassers
for GPC Applications Biotech Fluidics recently introduced two advanced degassers designed specifically for Gel Permeation Chromatography (GPC) applications. These degassers, known as the DEGASi Plus GPC and DEGASi Plus GPC Semi-Prep, are designed to deliver superior performance and efficiency.
In liquid chromatography systems, changes in pressure or temperature can cause gas molecules to form bubbles. This can have a negative impact on the precision, accuracy, and performance of the equipment. To mitigate this issue, using an online degasser is a reliable technique for removing dissolved gases from the fluid stream. These degassers have been proven to prevent bubble formation, reduce noise, and improve baseline stability, thereby ensuring more consistent results. However, some degassers are not suitable for GPC applications that use 100% organic solvents and may struggle to provide optimal performance in these conditions.
To address this issue, Biotech Fluidics has developed the DEGASi Plus GPC and DEGASi Plus GPC Semi-Prep, which are specifically designed to provide a solution to this challenge. These innovative high-performance degassers are suitable for use with all commonly used organic solvents, including hexane and chlorinated solvents, and are able to effectively remove dissolved gases by stenting the degasser membrane. This secure internal connection in the fluidic line is essential for efficient degassing in GPC and straight phase separations that use 100% organic solvents.
The DEGASi Plus GPC and DEGASi Plus GPC Semi-Prep are not only effective in removing dissolved gases, but they are also user-friendly and nearly silent during operation. These degassers require minimal bench space and are fully compatible with all commercial GPC/ SEC systems. The DEGASi Plus GPC comes with 1-6 channels and utilises a continuous vacuum system monitoring to ensure optimal operational conditions are maintained. Additionally, Biotech Fluidics has included advanced error and leak checking functions, as well as their patented ZHCR®
control, to eliminate
baseline fluctuations, providing further innovative features as standard.
With an exceptional chemical compatible flow path, this CE and RoHS compliant unit is built to operate seamlessly, even if run continuously (24/7) for more than 5 years.
