A New Library of Technical Bulletins for Warning Signal Applications
E2S Warning Signals (UK) designs and manufactures high performance audible and visible signalling devices for use in industrial, marine and hazardous area applications. To assist system integrators and specifiers to choose an effective signal for their specific application E2S has launched a technical bulletins library offering product information in a concise format.
The first three bulletins published cover two specialist products, Hootronic and Appello, and the dB(A) performance of their AlertAlarm industrial range. The Hootronic family, which electronically produces realistic legacy electro-mechanical signalling device alarm sounds such as the industrial claxon/motor driven horn, the motor driven siren, the electro mechanical buzzer / horn and the traditional electro mechanical bell, is available in a number of different configurations with outputs from 112 dB(A) to 124 dB(A). The primary advantages of the Hootronic unit are its increased reliability and much reduced current requirements when compared to the original motor-driven devices. The Appello next generation user-recordable alarm signals can store up to 2 minutes of content, enabling specific messages or instructions to be played with or without any of the 45 tones already on the device. Outputs range from 105 dB(A) to 121 dB(A). The AlertAlarm family is available with three or four stages with maximum output levels from 104 dB(A) to 131 dB(A) at 1m.
E2S’s main product groups include Xenon and LED beacons, electronic sounders, PA loudspeakers, intelligent voice annunciators, available in industrial, explosion / flameproof and intrinsically safe variants. Very high output electronic wide area disaster warning sounders, with effective ranges of up to 1km, are extensively used to give Toxic Gas Release, Flood, Tsunami, Civil Defence, Fire and Security warnings in many different countries.
Ground-Breaking New Formaldehyde Meter

A new portable, continuous measurement formaldehyde (HCHO) meter is now available from GrayWolf (USA). A reusable sensor cartridge employs the chemical reaction between formaldehyde and ß-diketone on a porous glass. The yellowing that results from this reaction is measured via photoelectric photometry with accurate readings to <20ppb HCHO, without significant cross-sensitivity, making it ideal for Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) applications. The unit ‘re-zeros’ between 30-minute tests allowing for continuous monitoring (unique for this technology), and provides an output for real-time connection to GrayWolf’s AdvancedSense meters, WolfPack area monitors and to WolfSense enabled mobile PCs.
Some key facts about this highly innovative meter: The FM-801 may be used for continuous monitoring, and/or for 30-minute spot checks. The sensor cartridges are re-useable; up to 1000 tests per cartridge (at low formaldehyde levels). The base unit may be used as an independent, simple data-logger, with data downloaded to GrayWolf’s WolfSense PC software. The FM-801 can also be interfaced to a GrayWolf AdvancedSense meter, WolfPack monitor or WolfSense enabled WIN7 Tablet/Notebook. FM-801 readings are simultaneous to readings from any other sensors connected to the AdvancedSense, WolfPack, or Laptop and are logged into the same data file. Attach audio/photo/video/drawing/text notes to data files for efficient, reliable documentation of surveys. Measurement range is from <20ppb to 1ppm.
The FM-801 formaldehyde meter kit is supplied with a mini-tripod, 5 sensor cartridges, a set of alkaline batteries, AC adapter, WolfSense PC data transfer/reporting software (on CD- ROM or USB key), a USB download cable and a hard-shell carrying case.

Blackline GPS (Canada), a leader in Lone Worker Safety and asset tracking products, has signed a 5-year lease to expand their manufacturing headquarters by nearly 100%. Located in the Inglewood district of Calgary, Alberta the expanded facilities will accommodate Blackline’s Canadian operations including: product development, manufacturing, customer care and sales.

“Our decision to increase the Manufacturing, Customer Care and Onboarding divisions of the company has been driven by the expanding product portfolio we are bringing to market,” says Kevin Meyers, Chief Operating Officer for Blackline GPS. “Increasing our office, manufacturing and warehouse space to over 10,000 sq. ft. allows Blackline to garner many new efficiencies and manage our growth effectively for the next few years.”
News of Blackline’s expansion falls immediately on the heels of a recently signed distributor agreement to enter the German industrial marketplace with Dortmund, Germany’s NSHtec - a leading German supplier of lone-worker safety systems.
“The fact that there are over 80 million people living in Germany makes this market one of the most potentially significant for Blackline’s worker safety products,” says Gavin Boorman, Managing Director for Blackline GPS Europe. “Germany is a highly regulated market, and our partnership with NSHtec, as a stocking distributor with considerable experience selling lone worker solutions in Germany is a major step forward for the company”.
Martin Schimanowski, Managing Director for NSHtec adds, “We are very happy to complement our own smartphone offering for lone workers with the full product portfolio of Blackline GPS, in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. We can now respond to a wider audience, in many more applications”.
Blackline opened their Essex, United Kingdom office in March of this year to better serve the EMEA or European, Middle Eastern and African markets.
