Air Monitoring Complete Sulphur Analyser for Waste Water Plants


Chromatotec (France) offers a big range of complete solutions in different fi elds of application. One fi eld of expertise is waste water plant applications. To ensure personal safety, the control and monitoring of sulphur components (e.g. hydrogen sulphur H2S and Mercaptans) is important. As a result of the confi nement of the waste water stations, toxic components such as H2S are increased. Safety of employees on such working sites has therefore become a major problem.


To combat this hazardous pollution, air fi ltering systems have been installed. For the station managers, personal safety coupled with the need for constant air quality control and fi lter change is a very important task.


The TRSMEDOR system was made to bring a complete solution to this problem.


The fermentation of the organic material coming from micro-biological activity results in the production of toxic sulphur compounds (H2S). It is therefore of the utmost importance to screen the sulphur content evolution. The TRSMEDOR, when placed in this hostile and diffi cult environment, answers this need. It measures the different mercaptans and sulphur compounds (H2S, methyl-SH, DMS and DMDS) every 3 minutes. It can also measure the total sulphur (H2S / TOS / TRS) in 2 minutes cycles.


Coupled with a stream selector, the TRSMEDOR system gives the necessary data to anticipate the time of H2S fi lter saturation, meaning you change it before it becomes dangerous. 29141pr@reply-direct.com

A new operating system available for Campbell Scientifi c’s (UK) CS135 Ceilometer adds several important new features to the instrument. The major one being that the sensor, previously used for calculation of cloud base and vertical visibility, now offers an option (chargeable) for the assessment of the Mixing Layer Height (MLH).


Mixing Layer Height is an important parameter in modelling air quality and predicting air pollution episodes. It is also a very diffi cult parameter to measure without expensive sounding systems.


The process is automated and based on the operational algorithm used by KNMI* and searches for the drop in backscatter associated with the transition from boundary layer aerosols to free troposphere. The results are incorporated in data messages making it easy to incorporate the MLH into whatever systems are already in use without the need to run external special software.


The new OS is compatible with all CS135 sensors and also offers stratocumulus based calibration, faster inclinometer response, sky condition reporting (cloud coverage), heater and blower controls and independent clock checking for accuracy.
