39 Acid Resistant Evaporator
Using the most advanced proven technology in evaporation science, the Genevac EZ-2 Series has proven itself as a popular centrifugal evaporator for QA and research labs worldwide, be that for concentration of samples or complete drying. The EZ-2 HCl evaporator uses inert and corrosion proof materials to enable it to withstand high concentrations of up to 12 molar hydrochloric acid and other acid chlorides. These can be routinely removed from samples without any loss of performance or long-term deterioration in the system. Acid resistant components in the EZ-2 HCl include a PTFE coated evaporation chamber, a glass condenser and all metallic parts coming into contact with removed solvent manufactured from and acid resistant Hasteloy®
C steel.
The innovative design of the EZ-2 HCl presents real advantages for all chemists faced with removing both regular solvents and strongly acidic chemicals. Intuitive controls and large LCD display provide ease of use comparable to a typical rotary evaporator yet the EZ-2 HCl can process many more samples per unit time. Smart evaporator software provides true walk-away automation so simple and sample safe that anyone can use it with confidence.
The proprietary pump technology combined with a visible glass condenser trap and easy access solvent drain valve make the EZ-2 HCl probably the most compact and reliable acid resistant sample evaporator available.

New 2011/2012 Catalogue from Huber
The new 2011/2012 catalogue from Peter Huber Kältemaschinenbau details the complete range of temperature control solutions from -120 to +425°C for applications in research, laboratory and production.
The new 132 page catalogue has been completely revised making it quicker and easier to understand the product functions. The new catalogue details the Unistat range of highly responsive temperature control systems, chillers and thermostats as well as information on
Microgen Bioproducts is releasing a new system for preparing defined atmospheres (anaerobic,
micro-aerophilic and CO2), for the incubation and storage of bacteriological cultures, without the need for anaerobic jars and expensive catalysers, large expensive anaerobic cabinets and dedicated
CO2 incubators. The MAS (Microgen Atmosphere System) creates defined atmospheres in special application bags, which can then be incubated or stored under normal aerobic conditions.
The incubation of the application bags in standard aerobic incubators provides savings in the space required for the incubation of bulky anaerobic jars and significant savings in laboratory space when compared to dedicated anaerobic cabinets.
MAS instantaneously achieves the defined atmosphere within the application bags only consuming sufficient gas to fill the bag, whilst improving isolation rates and colony size. The savings on gas consumption and incubator space are complemented by the ease-of-use offered by the LCD programme panel, low maintenance and the extensive application list, to create a unique, cost- effective and flexible atmosphere generation.

numerous innovations, including: four new Unistat models for applications from +250 to -90°C, the improved MPC low cost thermostats; the new Heat Transfer stations, a new economic alternative to standard chillers when a chilled water supply is already available. The Unistat Hybrid System for temperature control of very large production reactors using existing facility resources like steam, cooling water or liquid nitrogen.
The new CC-508 Refrigeration Bath Circulator, offering 3 kW heating power and cooling capacity of 1.5 kW at 0°C within the temperature range -55 to 200°C.

Huber has produced a new 14 page whitepaper showing the effects of good heat transfer on the process under all conditions. Huber revolutionised the world of temperature control in 1989 with the introduction of Unistat technology and the new whitepaper aims to provide information about temperature control systems drawn from Huber’s vast experience in the field of thermal dynamics.
The Whitepaper provides information on:
• Thermal dynamics – The effects of pressure and flow on thermal transfer
• Centralised Systems – Achieving better control for large volume production reactors
• Environmental commitment – Reduced energy consumption and natural refrigerants.
• Case studies – Precision cooling at low temperatures, control of exothermic reactions and temperature cycling
