Shaking up Microtitre Plate Incubation Stuart®

announces the SI505, a combined incubator shaker specially designed to reduce sample evaporation and provide fast, optimised mixing of very small SI505 can accommodate up to four standard microtitre or deep-well plates, or two racks holding 0.2, 0.5 or 1.5ml micro tubes.
The high-speed orbital shaking action is ideal for effective mixing of samples in even the smallest vessels, while a state-of-the-art microprocessor enables accurate, reproducible control of temperature between ambient +7ºC and 60ºC. The versatile integrated timer can be set from 1 second to 9 days. Removable water reservoirs increase the humidity in the chamber of the SI505, minimising sample loss due to evaporation. Tests have shown that at 78% humidity, samples incubated at 37ºC for 24 hours in lidded microtitre plates lost on average only 6% of the total sample to evaporation, based on a 200µl sample in each well. The warm air feed from above also prevents condensation of sample on the lid, eliminating the risk of light scattering by liquid droplets when the plate is to be read in a plate reader.
The new compact benchtop SI505 shares several proven features with the unrivalled Stuart® SI500 shaking incubator. A retractable stainless steel platform
provides easy access to samples, a digital display shows the independently controlled temperature and speed, and USB connectivity allows long-term monitoring of the incubator temperature via a PC. As with all Stuart® technology as standard, to minimise microbial contamination.

Tube Furnace
Linn High Therm GmbH Resistance heated vertical tube furnace for growth of 4” GaAs single crystals. It offerseight individual heating zones with a maximum temperature of 1500°C and a TÜV certified water-cooled pressure vessel (maximum pressure 10 bar, Argon). There is fully automated process control and monitoring by PLC and a touch-screen user interface. Maximum heating power is 12kW.

Bath Range Extended
The latest addition to the Huber refrigerated bath circulators range offers temperatures down to -55°C. The CC-508 thermostat is ideally suited for controlling the temperature of externally closed applications or for thermoregulating objects directly within the bath. Operating within the temperature range of -55 to +200°C, heating powers from 3kW and cooling powers from 1.5kW @ 0°C are available. The powerful variable speed pump guarantees an optimum circulation of 33l/min and 0.9 bar (pressure side) and 22l/min and 0.4 bar (suction side). The CC-Pilot controller offers professional features to meet the highest application demands.
Housing is made of stainless steel with a thermoregulated lid to prevent the formation of ice or condensation. The bath volume is 5L and is fitted with a tap on the front for easy draining.

The new sensors are based on the proven WTW SenTix®
handheld measuring instruments with IDS intelligent digital sensors. pH / ORP sensors and TetraCon®
conductivity cells. However, the IDS sensors convert the raw signals into digital signals which are insensitive against interference and can be transferred over large distances, particularly with pH sensors.
For optical DO measurement, a completely new IDS probe, the FDO®
925 has been developed. It
employs a factory-calibrated sensor cap, thus making further calibration unnecessary.
