Performance Seals for Use Where Cleanliness is Critical
New Diaphragm Pump for High Capacity Customers
Tapflo is increasing the T series metal pump capacity with the launching of the new T820 S, a compressed air powered diaphragm pump made from stainless steel AISI 316L. The pump has 820 litre per minute capacity. T820 S can transport corrosive liquids, such as chemicals, volatile alcohols to oils and viscous liquids such as paint and glue. Health-impairing liquids too, can be handled safely because the pump is hermetically sealed.
The new T820 S pump from Tapflo is ideal for the transport of chemicals for the process industry. The pump is also suitable for the paint, ceramics and glass industries and in sewage works. The design of this 3” pump goes in line with the sanitary range, but the T820 S is equipped with fixed industrial flange connections and the surface is glass blast. Manifolds and housings are secured by rigid flange connections, capable to cope with the great forces created by this pump.
The compressed air driven membrane pumps of the Tapflo T series are built in cast-iron, stainless steel or aluminium. The new pump is made from stainless steel AISI316L. Previously, the maximum capacity of T series stainless steel pumps was 420 litres per minute. The new T series, which is also available in ATEX execution, Tapflo can now supply a pump in this series with a capacity of 820 litres per minute.
The strength of the membrane pump lies in the fact that it does not require electric power, but can be run solely on compressed air or other suitable propellant gas. Moreover it is built using a minimum number of components, thus making the pumps very reliable and service requirements minimal.

Pharmaceutical and food process lines that are required to operate at the highest hygiene levels, utilise pure, high temperature aggressive water (WFI) systems for their SIP (Steam in Place) and CIP (Clean in Place) processes. The operation of repeated steam recycling, however, places severe demands upon any sealing products incorporated within control valves utilised in the process pipework.
These valves are widely used to control flow, pressure and temperature of fluid media within the system. Dichtomatik Ltd, an official Dupont™ licensee, are able to supply the Kalrez®
6221
perfluorelastomer compound O-rings and other sealing profiles including custom shapes. These products are thermally stable up to 260°C (500°F), and also suitable for stage II sterilisation application processes where other elastomers can lose their sealing capabilities. They have been developed specifically to maintain outstanding reliability while ensuring high level sealing performance in pharmaceutical and food production processes. They maintain the validation of cleanliness-critical operating conditions and overcome degradation difficulties (chemical, thermal and/or mechanical) associated with conventional sealing materials. This FDA compliant product also reduces contamination from extractables to trace levels, has very low swell characteristics or loss of other mechanical properties, even after repeated steam cycling.
Kalrez®
product is fully saturated, it is also well suited for sealing applications involving ozonated deionised water. Kalrez®

(FFKM) parts were developed to meet the unique sealing needs of today’s pharmaceutical processes. They are compliant with the United States Food and Drug Administration’s regulations and with the United States Pharmacopeia Class VI (USP Class VI). They are successfully used by many customers for steam control valves in the presence of saturated steam at 4 bars pressure and at a temperature of 140°C.

6221 sealing products combine the inert qualities and cleanliness of PTFE, with the outstanding sealing qualities of perfluorelastomer. They have also demonstrated significantly reduced contamination, combined with extended seal life compared to silicone, ethylene propylene diene (EPDM) and fluoroelastomers (FKM). Full manufacturers traceability can be provided, while leakage of process chemicals, or the ultra pure water used in plant cleaning, can be significantly reduced. Multipurpose Liquid Handling Instrument
Integra has announced VIAFILL™ – a ground breaking new product that delivers high performance bulk reagent dispensing, multichannel pipetting and microplate washing capabilities all from a single multipurpose instrument.
A choice of different tubing sets allow the user to quickly change between these three operation modes making VIAFILL a uniquely versatile tool for laboratories which perform a range of different applications including reagent or media dispensing, cell seeding, plate washing or serial dilutions.
Operating as a bulk reagent dispenser – the VIAFILL uses a choice of dispensing tube sets to enable accurate and rapid reagent addition in volumes ranging from 0.5µl to 10ml into 6-, 12-, 24-, 48-, 96-, 384- and 1536-well plates. A unique 16-channel tubing set is available to enable the productive filling of 384- and 1536- well plates. All Dispensing Tubing Sets are sold pre-sterilised and are autoclavable enabling them to be re-used for further experiments. The addition of a Plate Stacker module allows unattended operation of the VIAFILL further increasing reagent dispensing productivity and throughput.
With GripTip™ Kits the VIAFILL can be used as an automated multichannel pipettor. In this operating mode - reagents are aspirated from a reagent reservoir directly into the pipette tips instead of being pumped through the entire tubing set.
