Forth Valley College’s new £78m Falkirk campus adds to central belt meetings offer
A variety of flexible and bespoke spaces will accommodate community and business events
A
fter opening in January, a brand new £78m col- lege campus in Falkirk is an enticing new addition to the business
events market in Scotland’s central belt. Designed by architects Reiach
and Hall and constructed by Balfour Beatty, Forth Valley College’s facili- ties include everything you would expect to find on a modern student campus including - for events plan- ners - conferencing and events facili- ties that are designed to provide flex- ible and ‘bespoke’ meetings spaces. Te building’s Antonine suite can
house more than 100 delegates in an array of different configurations and
for larger events, the games hall can be carpeted to host up to 400. Te college – which adds to existing sites in Stirling and Alloa – has already played host to a high-profile busi- ness event when business organisa- tion CBI Scotland and Skills Devel- opment Scotland hosted the ‘Future of Talent’ conference. It is set for a ribbon-cutting ceremony on April 1 when First Minister Nicola Sturgeon formally opens the building. Dr Ken Tomson, Forth Valley
College Principal, said: “We were delighted to host the latest in the CBI Conference series – Te Future of Talent, with such a fantastic range of quality speakers. Te key focus of the discussion was on how industry, government, colleges, schools and universities can work together to develop the workforce of the future in an increasingly fast- paced, complex digital world.” Te opening of the facility com- pletes an ambitious estates strategy

tion, we want our campuses to play a pivotal role in the community and maximising the use of our buildings is a key priority for the College. We hope to promote our space through- out the year including the holiday period and evenings - allowing us to build our event portfolio and offer opportunities to enhance the experience for our learners,” says Dr Tomson. He added: “Not only is Forth
Valley College a fantastic place to study, we believe that our loca- tion, coupled with our modern and sustainable facilities, is the perfect place to hold an event or conference in the central belt.” n
