longside the many brand new hotels opening across Scot- land, several venues familiar to meetings,
events and conference organis- ers have had major work done recently. It all adds up to an ever- changing landscape of choice. In Dundee, the £1.4m refur-
bishment of public spaces at the Apex City Quay Hotel is almost complete, with work on the spa being the final part of the project. It follows a £2.4m makeover of the city centre hotel’s 151 bed- rooms. Dalmahoy Hotel & Country
Club, on the outskirts of Edin- burgh, has also finished a major refurbishment, with more than £4m invested in a two-and-a- half year period. Te most recent phase was the complete renova- tion of the swimming pool, sauna and steam room which reopened this month. In Glasgow, one of the city’s
most popular function suites is benefitting from a major facelift completed last year. Te renova- tion of the Clyde Suite at the Glasgow Marriott Hotel has made sure its new look offers flexibility
when it hosts events for up to 600 people. Another busy location is BT
Murrayfield in Edinburgh, and its new Centenary Club is one of the results of a major refurbishment completed last year. With a capac- ity of 150 for dinner, the club has direct access into the stadium. Edinburgh University’s com-
mercial arm, Edinburgh First, has been busy refurbishing its portfolio. Both Pollock Halls and the Salisbury Green Hotel started the year with fresh looks after multi-million pound programmes. At Pollock, £10.7m has been invested in the campus which each year transforms from student digs into a summer hotel which can host more than 1,880 visitors at one time. A makeover of Salisbury Green’s 36-bedroom Mansion House completed its year-long £4.6m project. On the western edge of Edin-
burgh, the Royal Highland Centre has had a major upgrade to its infrastructure and a multi-million pound conference and private venue is nearing completion. In Fife, work has started at
the Old Course Hotel, Golf Resort & Spa in St Andrews. Due for completion early next year, the project includes expanded and enhanced conference facilities and more bedrooms. Cameron House Hotel at Loch
Lomond is due to reopen later this year after its devastating fire in 2017. In addition to its

flexible function and event spaces, 208 bedrooms and extensive leisure facilities, the hotel is also planning
an extension which will open next year adding a 7,345 sqft ballroom and 68 bedrooms. n
