This month’s special focus is on the Chamber’s young professionals’ division, Future Faces. Our April focus will be on Solihull.

Network growth: Young professionals can look forward to a series of social events Below - Awards first: Daniel Aston, Sutton Coldfield, Lichfield and Tamworth’s inaugural Young Professional of the Year

Growing demand leads to Future Faces expansion

Future Faces is the young professionals’ arm of Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce – and also the group’s fastest-growing division. After several years of record-breaking growth, with popular networking and professional development events in and around Birmingham, the organisation is expanding its reach to other parts of the region. Chamberlink’s Dan Harrison finds out more.

Future Faces is on the move. The fast-growing organisation is expanding its footprint across the Greater Birmingham region – with upcoming events planned in Burton upon Trent and Sutton Coldfield. It is a natural next step for the young

professionals’ arm of Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce, which has grown by 258 per cent over the past three years. Having established itself as the go-to network

for young professionals and entrepreneurs in and around Birmingham city centre, Future Faces expanded its reach in 2018 and 2019 with its first events in Solihull. Strong links have also been forged in

Staffordshire, with Lichfield District Council and Tamworth Borough Council supporting the next generation in their respective geographical areas by sponsoring a number of 12-month Future Faces memberships. The GBCC group’s commitment to developing

young professionals in areas outside of Birmingham city centre was also reflected at the Sutton, Lichfield and Tamworth Chambers’ annual dinner and awards in January, when Daniel Aston from Lichfield-based travel

management company Access Bookings was named the first Young Professional of the Year. Now, Future Faces is stepping up its presence

by offering memberships and more frequent activities across the region. “While Future Faces has continued to grow in popularity with young professionals in the Birmingham area, interest has also increased in other parts of the region,” said Future Faces manager Anna Assinder. “In 2018, we enjoyed a successful launch in

Solihull and since then we’ve held some hugely popular events with Gymshark, who are one of our patrons. “Now, we are really excited to taking Future

Faces further afield and opening up networking and professional development opportunities to young professionals in Sutton Coldfield and Staffordshire.” The first Future Faces event in Burton will take

place at Branston Golf & Country Club on 2 April. The social event is being supported by car

dealership TL Darby and Else Solicitors, who played a significant part in the roll-out of Future Faces in the thriving brewing town. Chris Plant, director of Burton & District

Chamber of Commerce, said: “We’re tremendously excited about Future Faces expanding its reach into the Burton area. “There are so many talented young

professionals within our member businesses here in Burton and now they have an ideal platform to network with each other and become more engaged with their local Chamber.” A Future Faces social is also taking place at

Sutton Coldfield’s Brewhouse & Kitchen on 28 May – the organisation’s first event in the Royal Town. Katie Hale, president of Sutton Coldfield Chamber of Commerce, said: “The overwhelming number of entries we received for the new Young Professional of the Year category at the recent Sutton Coldfield, Lichfield and Tamworth awards demonstrated that we have some outstanding local talent in these parts of the region. “It is really important that we nurture and

retain such talented young people, so bringing Future Faces to Sutton Coldfield offers a great platform to do that.”
