Join Frogmore Regatta The delightful village of Frogmore hosts its annual regatta on Sunday August 11 this year.
Organised by the Frogmore Village Community Association this event has grown in popularity over the years. Last year, despite grey weather, the 38th Frogmore Regatta attracted more than 2,000 people through its gates. All signs show this will be another hugely popular day at Frogmore Creek and the adjacent Pool Farm Meadow Events on the water include rowing, raft and paddle board races. Off the water there’s a huge number of activities including children’s sports races, tug of war, Morris dancing, classic cars, dog show, swing boats, donkey rides, not to mention lots of stalls and plenty of food and drink. It’s all on from 12noon to 6pm.
for a fishing trip in the estuary, seven days a week during the summer. They can supply self-drive fibreglass boats, fishing rods, crab lines, bait, human and dog lifejackets, charts of the estuary and full instructions to make the hire as easy and enjoyable as possible. You can also hire the boats to visit the beaches, local pubs at the high tides, and look out for the local resident seals. Boats can be hired for one hour, four hours, daily or week- ly, and are for 6 to 10 people. If you don’t manage to catch a fish for supper then head into the fishmongers on your

return and pick up a locally caught sea bass or mackerel. And don’t forget to grab one of their delicious crab sandwiches.

Spend a day in the forest Haldon Forest Park is perfect for a leisurely stroll or an adren- aline packed punch. For the more genteel visitor there are
well signposted trails throughout the forest, including a new Zog family trail for the little ones, with activities and characters from the children’s book. If you want to get off your feet you can join a Segway Safari to get around. There’s also a well-stocked café and picnic areas on your return. And for a more adrenaline-filled trip the forest is now equipped with zip wires, five graded cycling trails, bike hire and a Go Ape tree top climbing course. The park is always expanding its range of activities and also includes a cycle skills area, orienteering courses and play equipment.
Centre For a lovely outdoor adaptation of Jerome K Jerome’s classic head to Avon Mill near Loddiswell on August 9 and 10. This adaptation of the hilarious novel is directed by Simon Downing and starring Giles Shenton as Jerome. It follows Jerome on his hilarious boating holiday along the River Thames with his two companions and Montmorency the dog. This production follows the success of Kick In The Head productions of Old Herbaceous (in which Giles Shenton played the leading role). Visit
