ART EXHIBITIONS till 4 August
Being Present An exhibition of Joe Webster’s latest paintings, some created aboard his canoe as he paddles around the creeks of the Kingsbridge estuary. Bluebells from West Alvington woodland are presented alongside views to Horse’s Head at East Prawle. Being Present describes Joe’s working method, his philosophy of putting aside digital media and the intimacy gained with his landscape. Infor- mal gallery talk with the artist: Sat 3 Aug. 11 am
6 – 11 August
Between the Land and the Sea An exhibition exploring the beauty of the Devon coastline and the challenges it faces. The centrepiece is a giant Kraken - a sea monster made from beach trash, stretching through the length of the art gallery. Other works include photographs and audio-visual work of the Devon coastline by Rod Birtles and Alison Theaker’s sculptures made of plastic beach litter, prints made using natural materials such as pebbles and seaweed and other equally creative mixed media works.
13 – 18 August
Through the Artist’s Window Sea, beach, garden, home, field and hedgerow explored through painting and printmaking by Maggie Smith, who launches her book of drawn from her diaries and sketchbooks kept through the seasons. Opening view: Tuesday 13 August, 6 - 8 pm

Island Artist Fresh, atmospheric paintings of coasts and seascapes by Emma Carter Bromfield. 3 – 15 September
