t’s officially summer and time to enjoy getting out and about in the great outdoors. South Yorkshire really has some wonderful places to visit whether it be exploring Barnsley’s re-opened castle and its beautiful gardens or enjoying outdoor cinema with the backdrop of a stately home. We were truly moved to meet The LimbBo
Foundation recently and hear their inspirational family story. The selfless work of the charity to support limb-difference children worldwide from their Barnsley home is astounding. We were also thrilled to meet with Jamie Campbell, the inspirational young man behind a West End show and box office movie currently being filmed in Sheffield. Jamie’s story is about being proud and confident to be who you are and he’s a great role model for young people. The regeneration of Barnsley town centre is impressive and there are many reasons to plan a day out in tarn this summer. We were delighted to enjoy a cup of tea at the Town Hall with Barnsley’s new mayor and share her aspirations for mayorship at this pivotal time.
In this edition we feature the first in our Common Threads series, showcasing the characters who framed Wentworth and Elsecar villages. The fantastic work led by Gemma Nemer at Elsecar Heritage Centre has inspired people from the community to share their historical stories.
Where we all want to be this season is, of course, outside, whether it is sipping a gin or tucking into a barbecue on hot summer days. Make sure you try the delicious recipe from our resident foodie, Ian Senior, using tasty seasonal ingredients. Don’t forget to celebrate Yorkshire Day on the 1st of August.
