COCKERMOUTH SCOTTISH COUNTRY DANCE CLUB

It has been an active year for Scottish Dancers in the Cockermouth area, with events attended throughout the county and further afield. The photograph shows one of our activities at home in the Hall on Lorton Street, when members dressed up to celebrate ‘Animal Day’!

Scottish Dancing is a fun way to exercise both body and mind from the age of 7 to 97!

The club has a healthy membership, with classes for children in Cockermouth and for adults in Cockermouth and Bassenthwaite. All teachers have been trained by the Royal Scottish Country Dance Club, based in Edinburgh. At present, we have ten young dancers who performed for parents and friends at their last class of the season, assisted by a selection of adult dancers who demonstrated ‘MacDonald of Keppoch’ for the audience.

You don’t need to bring a partner or be super fit - a good sense of humour and the ability to listen to directions are all you need, to enjoy the music and movement within a friendly group. On 29th June, we will be taking part in Cockermouth Live! as usual, providing a taster session for all ages, so why not come and join us? If the weather is fair, we may even dance outside! The new season will start again in September.
