In those days, dentures were more commonplace, all fillings in back teeth had to be metal and broken down teeth were only replaced by full crowns, which create a lot of damage to the individual tooth.


THIRTY YEARS LATER


Fillings have progressed enormously, with the damaged teeth being restored with strong tooth-coloured fillings and we can now repair almost any damaged tooth with a


tooth-coloured restoration – provided the root of the tooth and the bone support is there.


Beautiful porcelains with very thin cross section allow us to create accurately the shade of adjacent teeth to create a stunning smile with minimum damage to the affected tooth.


Most exciting of all, 3D imaging is replacing the need for the dreaded impression taking. A laser camera takes a 3D image of the mouth and sends it via ‘The Cloud’ to laboratories anywhere in the country. Orthodontics, such as Invisalign, have changed thanks to 3D imaging from a system of brackets and wires with impressions to a 3D image of the mouth and patients wearing removable aligners.
