hat a lovely February we have experienced! Let’s hope this is a taster of glorious spring weather
that we can all look forward to.
As we prepare for the first bank holiday weekend of the year, with Mother’s Day and Easter celebrations, there are an abundance of seasonal events across our region that we hope you find time to enjoy with family and friends.
We have been busy bees here at Aroundtown, covering exciting local history topics which always bring so much joy to our readers. We have explored the origins of Fosters Bakery, which has risen from its Barnsley roots to become a highly acclaimed global business.
As an all female team, the legacy of Women in
South Yorkshire resonated with us and is a timely focus this spring with International Women’s Day in March. We have met a passionate artist who is bringing together local communities through reciting tales of tenacious and empowering females, creating a lasting legacy through the creation of a giant tapestry.
We have highlighted a must-visit exhibition at Barnsley Museum, focusing on another successful local enterprise. With a female dominant workforce, creating beautiful storage tins and canisters, the business positively changed the lives of its leading ladies.
Spring into action at home and in the garden, with our tips and inspirational ideas of how to transform your spaces with the help of wonderful local businesses right on your doorstep.
