Wall gallery


Q. My photographs and artwork from my previous flat don’t work in my new flat which has a large empty wall, how to I make the most of it?

A. My advice is to use your existing artwork and photographs and add new ones to make a feature wall gallery. Here are the steps to create a perfect wall gallery:


1. Pick your style and collect pictures


2. Lay them all out on the floor (use a space more or less the size of your wall)


3. Do a mock up on the wall by cutting life size frames with paper and sticking them to your wall


Small spaces


Q. I live in a flat and my bathroom is quite small. How do you make my bathroom feel bigger?

A. Go airy with white on white. One of the easiest ways to give your room a spacious look is to use lots of white — white tile, white paint, a white vanity and so on. Use a floating vanity - less is more - go big with your mirror, use a glass panel and apply bright lighting.


Landings and hallways


Q. What to do with small quirky spaces such as landings and hallways? Elizabeth, Richmond


A. Maximise the decorative potential of storage by choosing open units instead of those with doors, add wallpaper or a bold colour to that area under the stairs, make the most of the tiniest of spaces by making a feature of the stairs and colour underneath, think about the decorative possibilities of potted plants. Select them according to their sculptural shape and size and use pots and planters for the colour elements.
