Note from the Editor

With this being our ‘Home’ edition, it seems appropriate that Style of Wight Magazine finds itself in a new home. We have moved offices.

We say farewell to our old venue and a big thanks to Steve Robson who helped us grow with his support as a great landlord and friend. But now we call Salisbury Gardens, in Ventnor, our home — boasting beautiful panoramic views of one of my favourite stretches of Island coastline. Since basking in some stunning summer weather, I’m now looking forward to more dramatic skies. Also, for me, this new venture brings me closer to my family home.

So what defines your home? Is it the elegant fixings and furnishings, the perfect bespoke kitchen, or the dream location? The Island has all of these in abundance and we celebrate them in this edition. Browse beautiful pieces of furniture, unique kitchen designs, stunning soft furnishings — and we look through the keyhole of some inspirational properties. We meet interior designer Mark Smith to find out what inspires him. Indulge in beautiful wall art by Galina Zastava and stunning images by photographer Holly Jolliffe and stylist Tanya Goodwin, which showcase the best of the Island’s independent retailers.

While all these things can certainly help us to live a happy life, what really makes a home is those you share it with — your family. So, in its own way, let this magazine inspire you to build, add decoration and make your home visually beautiful and relish in the activities of doing so with those you love. Then enjoy the end results with them in whatever shape your family home might be.

It’s tough at the top — but the views are great, especially from our new offices.
