A level DANCE
Overview Dance reflects both historical and current dance practices, aiming to provide a detailed overview of the progress contemporary dance has made in Britain. The course is aimed at students with a passion and interest in performing, choreographing and analysing dance.
Students will work practically on a solo performance piece based on a practitioner that has been studied throughout the course and will also perform in a quartet. As well as this, choreography also includes creating a group piece for up to five dancers. These practical components are supported by the theoretical study of ‘Rambert Dance Company 1966-2002’, studying the development of one of Britain’s most influential contemporary dance companies and the indepth study of the ‘Independent Contemporary Dance Scene in Britain’ which studies working practitioners in the UK today.
