ST HELEN’S CATHOLIC CHURCH
St Helen’s Coffee Drop-In: We regret that the ‘drop-in’ due on Wednesday May 2nd has been postponed due to the Requiem Mass for Peter Walmsley which takes place at St Helen’s on that day at 11.30. However, it will be back for coffee or tea and cake on June 6th, and meantime you can catch up with all the village gossip at our twin coffee drop-in at St John’s on May 7th (see separate entry). Fourth Wednesday Club: next meets on Wednesday May 23rd. This popular and friendly social club is open to all ‘Senior Citizens’ over 60 from 11.30 - 16.00; it starts with coffee, and continues with a simple hot lunch around
12.30.The ‘sub’ of £2.50 includes coffee, lunch and entertainment, and a raffle. There are also plants and previously-owned books for sale and the money raised is distributed to local charities. Rooms available:We apologise to anyone who may have been trying to contact us recently as we have been fully concerned with family illness and bereavement. St Helen’s has rooms available for small bona fide meetings and gatherings of up to 30 people; several organisations meet here on a regular basis. Facilities for preparing light meals and hot drinks are available (bring your own refreshments). Centrally situated with excellent car parking. Please call 01603 782758 for further details.
PETER WALMSLEY 1931-2018 Nick Walmsley would like to thank everyone for their support, cards and condolences following the death of his father at Easter after a long illness. He will be missed by many in these villages, particularly for his work running the popular St Helen’s Guild in its heyday.
