BHSF to open medical practice at Cornerblock

The business community at Bruntwood’s Cornerblock in Birmingham has welcomed a UK-first, with the establishment of a private medical practice from employee health and wellbeing provider BHSF. The medical practice, which is set to open its doors

in early spring, is a new venture for BHSF and will offer business professionals in the Colmore Business District access to private GP services in a central and convenient location during the working hours of 8.30am to 5.30pm. The 1,302 sq. ft. space will house four consultation

rooms. It will enable individuals who may struggle to see their GP closer to home to access a service near their workplace at a time convenient for them. Brian Hall, chief commercial officer at BHSF, said:

“The BHSF Medical Practice is an exciting new venture for us and will support our growing offering of health and wellbeing services.

“It will be an ideal opportunity for individuals

working in the centre of Birmingham to take advantage of high-quality medical services, in a relaxed and professional environment.” Rob Valentine, director of Bruntwood in Birmingham,

said: “We always endeavour to provide the right spaces and support as businesses grow and evolve, and we are confident that BHSF Medical Practice will not only be a success but also be the first of many for the company across the UK.” The new practice is the latest in a line of wins for

Bruntwood’s Cornerblock, which has welcomed nine businesses since its launch in July 2017.

Sector Focus In Brief

GVA and Bulleys Bradbury have completed the largest commercial letting to take place in Telford in a decade – after securing a new office for HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC). The agents have completed

the letting of 112,256 sq ft of office space to HMRC at One and Two Telford Plaza. The taxman will be taking 13 floors in total. Andrew Venables, GVA, said:

“This is a significant letting for the Telford market both in terms of the profile of the occupier and the quantum of the space that has been transacted. “This deal has developed from

our initial instruction to acquire a single 12,053 sq ft floorplate in Plaza Two and working with the landlord’s agent, Bulleys Bradbury, we were able to ensure that Telford Plaza was able to accommodate the growing requirement for high quality, cost effective office space.” Richard Bradbury, Bulleys

Bradbury, said: “This letting, together with further recent lettings in the building, has resulted in both Plaza One and Two now being fully let and occupied, preserving a significant number of valuable jobs in the town.” The acquired space will be

used by HMRC to consolidate a number of existing offices.

New venture: an artist’s impression of how the new medical practice will look Blenheim’s housing of the future

Blenheim has unveiled a radical new development scheme which could revolutionise the concept of affordable housing. Under the scheme, which is being

trialled at the Oxfordshire stately home’s Long Hanborough housing development, 35 per cent of the properties will be made available, either for rent or shared ownership. Typically, affordable rental

properties are let on at 20 per cent discount to market rent but Blenheim have devised a model that enables them to offer discounts up to 40 per cent of the current market rent. Fifty-nine of the new homes

being built at the Long Hanborough site will be set aside for the new programme with Blenheim working with West Oxfordshire District Council to identify potential occupiers. These will be sourced from those already on the council’s Homeseeker

Plus housing allocations system, with priority given to local residents as well as key workers important to the local community such as teachers and nurses. As part of its 10-year

development plan Blenheim Palace has committed to housing at least 300 families in inspirationally good and truly affordable housing as part of its developments at Long Hanborough and Woodstock.

“This is a wholly new approach

to the concept of truly affordable housing,” said Blenheim’s chief executive Dominic Hare. “Our aim is to provide high

quality homes at prices which will enable people to live and work locally. “The housing market is now

reaching a point where it is virtually impossible for many people to be able to live and work in the same area. Unless we look at radical solutions we will be faced with a potentially catastrophic outcome for our local communities and the local economy. “One of the biggest issues facing

this region is that young people growing up here have little meaningful prospects of being able to afford to live here.” As part of the new development Blenheim will retain ownership of the properties to ensure they remain affordable in the future.

which opens this spring, will offer architects and designers an informal space to look for tile inspiration and develop design schemes. Solus Ceramics are working

with the creative team at BusbyWebb to develop the design of the new showroom. Nick Wills, director of branding

at BusbyWebb, said: “Our concept is based around the ‘heart’ of Solus Ceramics as a family company – starting from the chairman, Peter Bentley’s original home office 22 years ago to becoming one of the UK’s leading architectural tile suppliers. “The Clerkenwell showroom

will be a relaxed environment that gives customers everything they need to create and implement eye catching design schemes - from a traditional specification centre to an informal workspace.” Marcus Bentley, managing

director of Solus Ceramics, said: “Solus Ceramics sits at the very heart of the latest floor and wall tile designs, so it’s only right that we open our new home in one of the most renowned architectural design hubs in the world.”
