Rhino Interiors Group charge into city centre
A workspace interiors company is expanding into Birmingham with a futuristic showcase office on Colmore Row. Rhino Interiors Group is moving
to 126 Colmore Row in early spring, and will be looking to add up to five more people to its team of 14, who will be based at the 1,600 sq ft showroom and office. Located between the major
development centres of Paradise and Snow Hill and a short distance from the new Arena Central, Rhino’s new third-floor space will feature a state-of-the-art virtual reality suite to bring clients’ designs to life. As well as being a working
office, the space doubles as an impressive showcase for the full service which Rhino delivers to its

clients, with futuristic office design features like collaboration desks, focus booths, sit-stand desks and even a 10-foot ‘living wall.’ Originally based in Coventry,
Rhino Interiors Group, which has been in business for more than 40 years, said the rapid growth in office space in Birmingham and the latest trends in workspace design have created a spike in demand for its services.
Rhino’s chief operating officer of
the Birmingham office, Adrian Dearnley, said: “The workplace, and the way we work, is very different to what it was 10 years ago, and future-proofing our offices is key to today’s design. “While our new office space at
Colmore Row will be a fantastic showcase of what we can offer our clients in the here and now, it will evolve over time with our own growth and as workplace design trends change.” “We couldn’t resist the pull to
the city any longer, we just had to be here. There are so many exciting opportunities both now and in the future for what we do and for a company of our size, we offer something unique to the businesses of Birmingham.”
School of Engineering is on track
Plans have been submitted to Birmingham City Council for a new School of Engineering and related rail research and innovation centre at the University of Birmingham. The scheme has been designed by Birmingham-
based Associated Architects with plans submitted by Turley on behalf of the University of Birmingham. The new School of Engineering facility is a
12,676sqm development, which includes almost 2,500sqm dedicated to research partnerships with the rail industry, as part of the UK Rail Research and Innovation Network (UKRRIN). The Birmingham Centre for Railway Research & Education at The University of Birmingham is the
largest university-based centre for railway research and education in Europe. Its research partnerships see experts working with over 50 companies in more than 20 countries. The university is leading the newly-created UKRRIN
– a £92m partnership between the rail supply industry and eight universities to carry out research that aims to establish the UK as a world-leading centre of railway excellence. The new UKRRIN facility will focus on innovation in
railways-related digital systems with purpose-designed buildings that will create an inspirational and collaborative environment near other related engineering facilities in this area of the Edgbaston Campus.
