New commercial banking director


HSBC UK Commercial Banking has appointed Ian Coulson as area director for business banking covering Greater Birmingham, Coventry and Warwickshire. He will join Mark Lupton in


leading a team of 15 relationship managers supporting owner-managed businesses with a turnover of £2m to £6.5m across Greater Birmingham, Coventry and Warwickshire. Martin Hanson, regional


director for business banking in the Midlands, said: “Ian has an excellent track record within HSBC and I am delighted that he has taken on this role, bringing excellent leadership skills and unrivalled local corporate knowledge. Ian takes up this post at an exciting time as HSBC sets up the head office of the ring-fenced bank here in Birmingham.” Ian has spent 14 years with


HSBC, and served as relationship director.

Thursfields strengthens its commercial services team


Thursfields Solicitors has expanded and strengthened its commercial services team with the recruitment of two additional employment lawyers. James Monk has joined as a


senior associate solicitor, based in the leading Midlands law firm’s Halesowen office. Mr Monk spent the past ten years


working at Anthony Collins Solicitors in Birmingham city centre, and was previously at Eversheds. He brings experience of working with education and not- for-profit organisations. The firm’s not-for-profit sector,


led by Jenny Smith, only began 18 months ago but is already ranked Tier 2 in the West Midlands by Legal 500, the legal industry’s directory. Jade Linton has joined as an


associate solicitor, working at Thursfields’ Solihull office. Ms Linton has joined from West Midlands-based Sydney Mitchell Solicitors, and has a strong local profile, regularly delivering HR seminars and speaking at industry conferences.
