Guy discovered that the highest calorie food was pork scratchings and hence ‘Mr Porky’ was his sustenance for the journey. Talk of food steered the conversation back to the TT and how riders get various smells through- out the course of a lap – a barbecue at Kirk Michael, wild garlic at Bishopscourt. John stated that Handley’s was his favourite part of the circuit, now re-named after him, and least favourite

Parliament Square to Gooseneck, which he rarely rode well. Tongue-in-cheek, Steve pointed out that various churches had been named after him. One of the questions raised concerned memo- rial laps undertaken to respect fallen riders. John revealed that he had mixed feelings, especially doing Joey Dunlop’s lap in his hero’s colours, even though this was at the request of the family. The evening had been a heady mix of nostalgia, humour and serious topics. As with the best of BTM talks, the audience left wanting more. The demand for BTM talks looks likely to continue for some time.

enjafield’s Racing Club would like to invite all Brooklands Trust Members to spectate at the fourth Benjafield’s sprint meeting at Goodwood circuit on Saturday 6th May. This has become a regular event and those who come to spectate will be treated to a visual feast of exotic machinery, including a parade of vintage Bentleys and the promise of some Group B rally car action.
This will be an MSA sanctioned sprint for ‘Benjy’ members and their friends. There will be no charge to come and spectate and there will be a designated visitors’ car park. You will have free access to the paddock and viewing areas and will be able to chat to the drivers. Each car will be doing several timed laps to determine which is fastest in each class. We hope for some aero action as well but this will be weather dependent.
Practice will start at around 10.00am followed by timed runs for the rest of the day. We have booked some good weather, so just turn up at
