Bendure Communications, which repre- sents National Harbor’s convention and visitor association, Visit National Harbor.
Whether your group is looking to relax, learn or have fun, the options are end- less in National Harbor. “There are all types of waterfront activities, from rent- ing peddle boats to chartering a yacht, riding the 180-foot high Capital Wheel or the carousel, watching movies or sporting events on National Harbor’s big waterfront screen, attending con- certs, or participating in any of the many other events and activities includ- ing yoga, Zumba and exercise classes. Water taxis take visitors to Washington, DC; Old Town Alexandria, Virginia; or historic Mount Vernon,” says Bendure.
Groups from all locations can easily access these exciting options when traveling to National Harbor. “National Harbor not only sits on prime water-
front space, but it also is located close to three airports: Washington Dulles International, Baltimore Washington International Airport and Reagan National Airport. There are two nearby Amtrak stations: New Carrollton, MD, and Union Station in Washington, DC. National Harbor also can be reached easily by boat, as the National Harbor Marina features 64 slips. Marina ameni- ties include: private changing facilities, dockside power and concierge. Two 10,000-square foot platforms provide an ideal location for corporate entertain- ing or private events.”
For planners who could use some assis- tance when putting together their National Harbor event, the local con- vention and visitors association is avail- able to help. “Visit National Harbor launched last year, and can assist meet- ing and event planners in bookings,” says Bendure.
Organizing group outings and tours like these can be a challenge, but by part- nering with local destination marketing organizations and convention and visi- tors bureaus, planners will find that the process can be a whole lot easier.
These representatives are in the know and well connected, and they offer many services that are free to utilize. Tapping into their expertise and taking advantage of their offerings just makes a whole lot of sense.
After all, having the right connections in a destination can make all the difference between a good group event and one that they remember and rave about for years to come.
