“I expect my salesperson to be fully knowledgeable of the property and be capable of looking beyond the norm. If space is limited for a meal function, I want them to be able to
give me creative options. If my numbers go up, they need to be able to suggest alternatives to make the space work. My CSM (customer service manager) needs to be able to think on their feet relative to last-minute or on-site changes. The food and beverage staff must be able to work within a budget to provide visually appealing and great tasting food.”
Ilene Sauertieg, director of education, Pennsylvania Optometric Association (POA)
The state-of-the-art Wildwoods Conven- tion Center overlooks the beach and ocean and enjoys prime real estate right on the resort’s world-famous boardwalk. A 260,000-square foot facility, the con- vention center offers space for groups of 100 up to 10,000 attendees.
The main exhibit hall has a flexible capacity for up to 7,000 seats. This 75,000-square foot exhibition hall can be split into two 37,500-square foot areas, meaning that there is ample space on-site for hosting trade shows and sports tournaments. In addition, an alluring 6,600-square foot oceanfront deck serves as an attractive setting for pre-function activities.
Amenities include catering and state-of- the-art communications, along with a professional team of planners and caterers at the center to ensure seam- less meetings and groups events.
Planners will find that the beach and boardwalk help to make The Wildwoods a very attractive location in which to host association, SMERF and sports group functions.
The Wildwoods Convention Center offers affordable pricing, particularly from September through May. More than 15 cheerleading, wrestling, gym- nastic, dance and other competitive groups convene here each year.
“The SMERF industry is looking for a location that can handle their events with ample overnight sleeping accom- modations and space in the convention center,” said John Lynch, director of sales and entertainment Wildwoods Convention Center.
