A Victorian Tea Party With Friends. –words & pictures by Anna Cooke
Pawsitively Posh Pooch was the perfect setting for a romantic Victorian Tea Party in April to benefit Rescue Pink. An invitation, designed by THE NEW BARKER incorporating Susan Nice’s selected color scheme, was sent out via social media. Within just a couple of hours the event was sold out with a growing waiting list. The event was, of course, dog friendly and every- one was encouraged to dress in lace and hats. Guests were definitely wowed by the beautiful attention to detail, including place cards attached to each tea cup and plastic Easter eggs stuffed with home- made dog treats. An Easter bonnet-making station had been set up for guests to design and create hats for their dogs. A traditional lunch of tea sandwiches with dessert and a
candy bar complemented the tea station - both hot and cold. Each guest was given a swag bag that included the tea cup and saucer, a tussie mussie filled with candy and several other keep- sakes. Over the top? Exquisitely so. And the best part, more than $1000 was raised for Rescue Pink, a 501c3 Pinellas County organization that raises money to provide free spay/neuter to those unable to pay to have their pets fixed. The non-
profit’s director, Elizabeth Olson, was brought to tears when Susan handed her the donation at the end of the party. Elizabeth, who helped spearhead the change in breeder laws in Pinellas County, said, “This is going to help so much. I can’t thank you enough for recognizing the need in our community.”
