Everything is included in the grooming services. “There are no surprise, add-on services,” said Tara whose specialty is cleaning pets’ ears. “We really do take our time with the animals,” said Tara who was grooming a 30 pound Maine Coon cat named Felix (below).

Amy, whose Pug JJ comes to work
with her every day, specializes in prob- lem dogs, without the use of a muzzle. “We often see a lot of dogs other
salons don’t want. Certain breeds or dogs who don’t want to be groomed and therefore may have behavioral issues.” Amy is known for getting the job done, gently and calmly. She also specializes in birds and smaller animals like bunnies. Next up for Amy was Kyla, a
Staffordshire Terrier, adopted from Tallahassee-Leon County Animal Services four years ago. “Kyla is a great dog. She’s here today to have her nails trimmed,” said Amy.

Her next favorite dogs to work on are West Highland Terriers and Yorkshire Terriers. “Again, I just love the pattern of their hair and the differ- ent cuts.” Penny the Cocker Spaniel comes in for a bath every two weeks and receives a complete groom every three months.

said Mary. “See how shiny his coat is?” Mary’s favorite thing about grooming
dogs is knowing the pets feel better after- wards. “Especially a badly-matted dog. You just know they’re uncomfortable, often in pain. Seeing them after we’ve finished, you just know they feel better. You can see it in their eyes,” said Mary, who wants to emphasize the importance of maintain- ing a schedule with your dog’s grooming. “Also, play with their ears and feet regu- larly. It gets them used to being touched and handled, so they’re not so trauma- tized when they come in for a groom,” said Mary.
