While New Orleans has Barkus, DeLand has its own Mardi Gras On Mainstreet Dog Parade. Presented by the Krewe of Amalee, the theme of this year’s February 25 parade was De-Land of Fairy Tails. The 19th annual event drew thousands of spectators up and down Indiana Avenue. After the parade, folks shopped the vendors along the Avenue with entertainment, dog demonstrations and authentic Mardi Gras food and music. Rover reporting and photography by Carol McCaughtry Mason and her pups, Molly and Joey, both therapy dogs.

An Affaire To
Remember. The annual Fur Affaire, hosted at the beautiful Earthscapes Garden Room in Palm Harbor had a unique twist this year. It happened to be one of the coldest nights of the year. But that didn’t stop the crowd of animal advocates from coming out to support the Humane Society of Pinellas.
