Hot Tub & Swim Spa Scene HOT TUB HIRE

ABOVE: Hot tub manufacturer RotoSpa UK currently supplies units to more than 70 hire companies across the country.

advertising, so it’s purely through social media and word of mouth.” The busiest time for HTP’s hot tub hires is over the Christmas period, when the company offers a ‘buy one week get one week free’ promotion. “There’s always a deal to be had,” explains Lewis. “The average rate for a weekend hire is between £175 and £195, which includes set up and delivery, but we’re always doing special promotions, which people love.”

FLEXIBLE APPROACH

For a weekend hire, the HTP Inc. team delivers and sets up the hot tub on the Thursday and allows it to heat up overnight, leaving Friday as a buffer day to iron out any problems, before use on the Saturday and Sunday and collection on the Monday or Tuesday. Lewis comments: “We’re pretty fl exible on the hire side. If we’re really busy, I’ll ring the client and ask to arrange collection later in the week. It’s a win-win situation as it keeps the client happy and frees up our time.” Upon delivery, all hot tub hire customers receive a thorough training session, with a demonstration of how to correctly use and look after the tub while it’s in their possession. They also receive a full set of terms and conditions, which is a signed document to confi rm that they understand the agreement.

Lewis adds: “I think one of the main reasons that our hire service has been so popular is because we offer choice of three quality all-in- one hire products that are easy to install and simple to use. Our latest venture is offering the hire service to corporate clients for business events. We’ve already had some uptake so watch this space!”

FIT FOR PURPOSE Spyrys Spas & Hot Tubs of Cornwall started a hire service four years ago as a side-line to the main hot tub retail business. Since then, the hire side has seen real growth, with many hire customers going on to purchase a hot tub.

“You would probably expect the main challenge to be getting the hot tub into the garden but we have only ever had to abandon a hire delivery and this was only because the customer wanted us to roll the hot tub up a number of Cliffside steps which were way too narrow and dangerous,” says Owner Brian Kennelly. “The main challenge is distance – we have to turn away a number of hire enquiries simply because they are too far away.” Spyrys favours RotoSpa Orbis circular hot tubs for its hire

customers, which can be delivered by a single person and manoeuvred into most gardens with relative ease, fi tting through a standard doorway or side gate.

“The hire process itself is very straightforward but we do pay attention to detail to ensure everything runs smoothly,” explains Brian. “For example we supply an RCD breaker box which converts an ordinary 13amp supply to weatherproof external extension leads as we never know what the house electrics will be like. It takes a bit of time but we always fi ll the hot tub and show the customer how to use the controls, leaving it running to heat up.”
