A catalyst for not just added income but also for potential sales, the hot tub hire market has been providing a useful fi rst stepping stone for would-be spa retailers for many years.
Now a growing trend, more established water leisure businesses are looking to diversify in order to bring in much sought-after cash fl ow are now also enjoying the benefi ts of the hire market. For the customer, the ‘try before you buy’ approach offers a glimpse of hot tub ownership before forking out and this is where the hot tub hire market comes in to its own.
Jason Smith, Sales Director at RotoSpa UK is a hot tub hire advocate. He says that the demand for hires is being triggered by an improving economy, coupled with the rise in UK short breaks and a better understanding of the benefi ts of wellness. “We see a split between those who are booking for a social gathering such as a birthday or hen do, those booking to experience
the relaxing benefi ts of tub use and those who want to ‘try before they buy’,” says Jason.
“Spas are big ticket items so it’s completely understandable that the general public want to try a spa in the comfort of their own garden before making an expensive purchase.”
BUILT TO LAST
Hot tub manufacturer RotoSpa UK currently supplies units to more than 70 hire companies across the country, as well as offering its own hire service through its sister company Sutton Spas. Jason believes that the hire process is a vital tool in securing sales of hot tubs: “Of the 20 units Sutton Spas hired out over Christmas and New Year we sold fi ve of them. Likewise, one of RotoSpa’s most successful customers is selling to approximately one in ten of their hire bookings.
“Having access to large amounts of stock and a range of fi nance packages from us allows our dealers to make very attractive and convincing sales presentations.”
