Slip ‘N Slide Additions To Cruise Liner


P&O’s Cruise Liner, Pacific Dawn, is undergoing an extensive refurbishment, including two new waterslides, further improving the facilities on the ship.


The Southampton-based P&O group, working in partnership with


Polin Waterpark’s and Myrtha Pools, installed the two 80m slides to improve their standing in the industry. They are the maiden waterslide additions to the company’s fleet. The 2,020-passenger Pacific Dawn has already built a reputation as one of Australia’s favourite cruise ships. Now the company are hoping the addition of two Aquatube waterslides to the 804-foot vessel, will add a further splash of colour and fun to the guest’s experience. Olympics, will christen the build in June, with the addition of Polin’s trademarked Magic Shine, Natural Light Effects, Special Pattern Effects and translucent options. Asian Aqua Event


Singapore hosted the fourth edition of the Piscine Global Asia show last month, with almost 100 exhibitors taking part in the two-day event. 96 brands from 18 countries met at the Marina Bay Sands from the 5-6th April and attracted 919 attendees ranging from architects and landscapers to installation, construction and installation professionals. Throughout the weekend, companies could view and advertise with dedicated events which included a Pool Vision Awards ceremony. S.Pin Architect claimed top prize for most Innovative Pool, Abraham John Architects won for best Residential Pool and P. Landscape Co, Ltd bagged first place for the Tourism and Leisure Pool category. Industry leaders Certikin and Fluidra attended, with the latter introducing ‘Connect’ to visitors and the South-East Asia’s six largest federations; Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines. The app allows users to monitor and control their pool on the go.

The Royal Life Saving Society UK (RLSS UK) will once again mark Drowning Prevention Week in June.


The initiative is the national campaign from the RLSS and will run between 16th – 26th June, aiming to spread water safety across the country.


RLSS UK statistics show that one person drowns every 20 hours in the UK and hundreds more suffer life changing injuries through near drowning.

The campaign will encourage school, clubs, leisure centres and communities to promote water safety through events, lessons, games and activities in a bid to make people more aware of the dangers of water. The number of drowning fatalities has been steadily decreasing since the charities foundation, and the Royal Society for Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) records show annual water-related deaths are down from 637 in 1983 to less than 400.
