Carte Blanche and Mind Candy collaborate

The Carte Blanche Group will launch Moshi Monsters-branded items as part of its portfolio from as early as Spring 2014. The collaboration marks an important milestone in the history of Carte Blanche, which recently celebrated 25 years in business. Stephen Haines, chairman and founder of the Carte Blanche Group, said: “We are delighted to be embarking on a new partnership with Mind Candy. From the outset it has felt like a ‘meeting of minds’. Character Options takes on Ben and Holly’s Little Kingdom

Entertainment One has named Character Options as the master toy partner for its pre-school property Ben and Holly’s Little Kingdom in the UK. Under the terms of the three-year agreement,

Character Options, which also has master toy rights to eOne’s Peppa Pig in the UK, will debut a comprehensive new toy line at November 2013 previews with plans for a nationwide retail launch from July 2014. Character will support the retail launch with a heavyweight above-the-line marketing campaign that includes TV, press and digital advertising targeting parents and pre-schoolers. Character’s Ben and Holly’s Little Kingdom toy line will feature new-look packaging and will include a variety of fi gure packs, vehicles, a Deluxe Castle playset and other assorted playsets, talking and feature plush, a Hide and Seek Holly with magic wand. In addition, novelty items will refl ect popular elements of the show such as a Bump and Go Gaston the Ladybird and a fl ying wand and wings role-play set.

Hit Entertainment expands content portfolio

Hit Entertainment has greenlit three direct-to- DVD feature specials (3 x 60’) for Thomas & Friends, Fireman Sam, and for the fi rst time, Mike the Knight, co-produced with Corus Entertainment’s Nelvana. Production is currently

underway for all three titles: Thomas & Friends: Tale of the Brave, Mike the Knight: Journey to Dragon Mountain and Fireman Sam: Heroes of the Storm (working title). Michael Carrington, VP content and head of production, Hit global brands, said: “Hit Entertainment is committed to producing exceptional content, with rich and character-driven stories that capture the hearts and imaginations of pre-schoolers around the world and I’m delighted to announce these three new 60-minute specials. Tent-pole programming offers us the perfect opportunity to introduce new storylines and characters and build products and experiences around them which provide audiences with new ways to enjoy, engage and interact with their favourite characters.” Thomas & Friends: Tale of the Brave will premiere in 2014. Entertainment has also greenlit a new 26 x 11’ CGI series of Thomas & Friends. This will be the 18th series of Thomas & Friends, which remains one of the world’s premiere pre-school lifestyle brands and currently broadcasts in 200 territories to over 1.1b households. The Journey to Dragon Mountain is the fi rst feature-length outing

for Mike the Knight, which will premiere in 2014. The fi rst two series of Mike the Knight have so far been sold to 27 broadcasters in 112 territories. Fireman Sam: Heroes of the Storm follows on the heels of the

brand’s fi rst tent-pole special ‘The Great Fire of Pontypandy’. It will premiere in 2015.

Warner Bros. Consumer Products EMEA has unveiled the winners of its inaugural Golden Bunny Awards. Licensing partners and retailers commended at the event (hosted on-site at Brand Licensing Europe 2013) include Lego, Rubie’s Costume, Nestle Waters, Character Group, Eaglemoss, Dexxon, Lidl, Inditex/ Bershka, H&M, Benetton, George@Asda and Primark. The winners were presented with their engraved Golden Bunny statuette by the WBCP senior management team led by Pilar Zulueta, executive vice president and general manager, Warner Bros. Consumer Products EMEA, who said: “We congratulate our 2013 Golden Bunny winners and extend our thanks and gratitude to all our partners who play a vital role in the success of our business.
