Asamoah Gyan is the prototype of an African forward. The Ghanaian is fast and has a big self-assertion. It is al- ways hard for a defense to stop the compact player, especially against tiring defenders, that is why he's often brought as a substitute, even though his qualities are well-known. Voted third African footballer in 2010 com- pleted a remarkable year for the 25-


year-old. Three goals in five matches were the result of his efforts at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, where Ghana was eliminated in the quarterfinals. The South Africa World Cup gave the Gha- naian youth all the attention even after being quite successful before. Having played for Udinese Calcio in Italian Serie A (37 appearances/11 goals) and with Stade Rennes in French Ligue 1 (48/14) he moved to the world’s best football league - the English Premier League. By scoring 9 goals in 25 appearances for Sunderland AFC so far, he clarified that this step was not too big for him.
