No 32. Eunice Barber Country:


Sierra Leone Sport: Track and Field


Born in Freetown, Sierra Leone Eunice Barber is a double Gold Medalist who would eventually changed nationality and become a French citizen to give herself a chance to thrive in her pursuit for excellence in a sport that she is naturally blessed with.


Eunice is still the record holder in the Heptathlon for Africa a record she set back in 1995 at the All African Games. She appeared in the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games for her native Sierra Leone but would soon change nationality. In 1999 she would go on to win the World Title at the Heptathlon bringing the Gold home to her new nation France. In 2003 Eunice would repeat her Gold Medal performance at the World Athletics Championships but this time it will be in the Long Jump .


No. 31 Bruce Grobbelaar Country:


Zimbabwe Sport: Soccer


Born in Durban South Africa Bruce Was a well known footballer (Goalkeeper) especially for the Liverpool Club in the UK where he spent most of his Career. As a youngster his real talent was in Cricket and he was even offered a Baseball Scholarship in the USA but he would turn that down. He was more in love with soccer and decided instead to pursue a career in soccer. He would start his professional soccer career with Highlanders FC a Bulawayo based club in former Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe).


Grobbelaar signed for Liverpool for £250,000 on 17 March 1981 and in less than a year he would become the main Goalkeeper for Liverpool after the clubs main goalkeeper left for another Team. In 1984, the European Cup final was played between Liverpool and A.S. Roma and the match finished 1–1 after extra time, so they went to a penalty shootout and this is where Grobbelaar’s legend was stamped for the ages. Eventually Liverpool would win the shootout 4–2, and this made Grobbelaar the first African to ever win a European Champions League winner's medal.
