■ Vary speeds by making small ankle movements to adjust tilt. ■ Sideslip in balance on both edges for short distances, then close the ankles to come to a controlled stop.
■ Open the lead ankle slightly to get the nose of the board pointed more downhill, resulting in a traverse; then close the lead ankle to get the board back across the fall line and repeat with the trailing leg.
Complex ■ Perform heel-edge and toe-edge falling leafs and traverses, using ankle and knee movement to tilt, pivot, and twist the board in relationship to the fall line.
