REVIEW, PREVIEW, INVITE

Here are three easy to remember words to help you conclude your lesson: review, preview, and invite. Te review should focus on the successes relative to the initial goals or objectives for the lesson. Share a genuine sense of stoke, regardless of the scope of accomplishments.

Previewing entails informing students what they have been set up to learn next. Our viability as a business is a direct reflection of our students knowing two things: one, what else they are capable of learning; and two, the realization that we are capable of helping them learn those things. Te stage is then set to provide a focus for independent practice.

Now that they have clear expectations for what future visits have in store, it’s time to invite them to return. Let students sincerely know that you value them as customers and express how much fun you had assisting them with their experience.

SUMMARY

Teaching is the heart of what we do as instructors, coaches, and pros. Te Teaching Model offers a framework to achieve mastery as educators. If you are new to instructing, begin by learning all the different parts of the Teaching Model, then select a teaching system that suits your individual style. If you are a seasoned veteran or trainer, periodi- cally review this information to identify opportunities for ongoing personal growth and development.

Te beauty of the Teaching Model is that it provides room for continual growth. Because the model is not linear, how you use it changes, providing the limitless experi- ences you tailor to your students. Te spirit of teaching is inherently creative. Tapping into your creative side maintains your engagement in instructing; more importantly, it differentiates the mountain resort experience from the other recreational activities in today’s marketplace.
