Focus: In powder, the depth of the snow adds a three-dimensional aspect to the skills application that is not as noticeable on firm snow. Rotational input may be limited if the skis are deeply submerged, and steering the skis may require getting them to rise closer to the surface. Tipping the skis allows the soft snow to push against the entire base of the skis to push or deflect them through the arc of the turn. Pressure or force from the snow is generally more subtle than on firm snow, as the snow must compact before it influences ski bending.
