SKIING CONDITIONING
As therapists, coaches, sport medicine and therapy personnel we must recognise potential problems associated with malalignment and postural syndromes. We must ensure that the daily training plans and recovery protocols address these syn- dromes in a pro-active manner to min- imise the effect they may have on skiing and training performance.
THE AUTHOR Carl Petersen, PT, travelled on the World Cup Ski Circuit from 1984-2004 as a physiother- apist and fitness coach and has been the Director of Sport Medicine and Science for Alpine Canada. He is a partner and director of High Performance Training at City Sports & Physiotherapy Clinics in Vancouver, Canada. He currently works with a variety of athletes from club level to World Cup skiers and has recently written a book Fit to Ski.
