Welcome to the summer edition of sportEX dynamics. It’s the time of year when thousands of students on full

and part time courses finish their study and look forward to a job in sport or performance. Unfortunately, for the majority, there will only be ‘volunteer’ work to look forward to. Yes, being lucky enough to get a foot in the door at any level is great experience but, as qualified practitioners should we really being giving our services to professional or elite organisations for free? Training is expensive and time-consuming and takes dedication and commitment. Are we undermining our own professionalism by offering our services for little or no reward? Is it time to say, ‘No’? What do you think?
