Welcome

to the spring edition of sportEX dynamics which concentrates on pre-season training. Our writers come

from particular sports but their methods and advice can easily be adapted to whatever sport or activity you work in.

From basketball, Dr Duncan French sets the scene with a discussion

on periodisation. Jim Henry, fitness coach to the Premier League’s Aston Villa football club gives his views on modern football. Jeremy Snape, the Leicestershire cricket team captain, gives a player’s perspective whilst his fitness coach Suzie Woolmer tells us the tortures she puts him through. In addition, Dr Amy Lanou a multi-sport nutritionist and Dave Brown a massage therapist from rugby and cricket talk about their specialist fields. Thanks for the feedback on the first issue of 2008. Keep it coming. As Jim Henry mentions in his piece, there are as many training methods as there are trainers. If you have a particular routine that works for you and your athletes, or if you disagree with our writers, or you feel we are not covering a topic dear to your heart, then get typing and share your thoughts with us. You never know, you might end up a published author.
